We’ll break down big ideas like machine learning, neural networks, and generative AI (the kind used in tools like ChatGPT and DALL·E) in a way that’s easy to follow—no technical background needed.
We’ll also explore how AI is used in real life, from voice assistants like Alexa to movie recommendations on Netflix. Along the way, we’ll talk about the benefits of AI, the risks, and how companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and OpenAI are shaping the future.
By the end of this workshop, you’ll walk away with a clear understanding of how AI works, where it’s going, and how it might fit into your world—whether for work, school, or just staying informed.
Module 1: What Is AI? Understanding the Basics
This module introduces the concept of Artificial Intelligence in simple terms, explaining what it is and how it's different from traditional computer programs. Participants will learn about key terms like machine learning, deep learning, and automation, and discover how AI is already part of daily life—through smart assistants like Siri, recommendation systems on Netflix, or even self-driving cars. The module also includes a quick look at the history of AI, from early experiments to today’s powerful tools, helping participants understand why AI is such a hot topic right now.
Module 2: How AI Learns – Machine Learning Made Simple
In this module, learners explore how AI systems are trained to make decisions. We’ll break down the core idea of machine learning—how AI uses data to learn patterns and improve over time. Concepts like supervised learning (where AI is trained with examples), unsupervised learning (finding patterns on its own), and reinforcement learning (learning by trial and error) are explained using everyday examples like email spam filters or video suggestions on YouTube. This session helps participants grasp how “learning” happens in machines, using visuals and real-world comparisons.
Module 3: Meet Generative AI – Creating with Machines
This module introduces participants to one of the most exciting areas in AI: generative AI. Learners will see how tools like ChatGPT (for text), DALL·E (for images), and others can actually create original content. From writing poems and stories to making artwork and music, generative AI shows how machines can be creative. Participants will get to try out some of these tools and see for themselves how AI can produce content from simple prompts. We’ll also talk briefly about how this technology works behind the scenes in a beginner-friendly way.
This module delves deeper into the technical aspects of generative AI models, providing a high-level understanding of their architectures and functionality without requiring extensive mathematical expertise. It covers LLMs, diffusion models, GANs, and VAEs, examining their strengths and weaknesses, training processes, evaluation metrics, and fine-tuning techniques.
Module 4: The Big Players – Who’s Leading the AI Revolution?
This module highlights the major companies and platforms behind today’s AI innovations. Learners will discover what companies like OpenAI, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and IBM are doing with AI, and explore products like ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Bard, and AWS AI tools. We’ll explain how these companies are making AI tools available to the public and businesses, and what roles they play in shaping the future. This module also shows how AI is being used in industries like education, healthcare, finance, and entertainment.
